FAQs

As answered by Thomas Michael Jones

1. How would you describe The Paradox Process in a simple sentence?

The Paradox Process is a hands-on transformational tool that allows you to access your negative emotions and change them in the moment, in a way that gives you instant insight and instant emotional relief.

2. What is the difference between The Paradox Process and therapy?

Therapy is based on discussing and retelling your story and then making sense of it. It is a search to find out what happened and why; discovering the formation of your personality, and making a study of yourself. The difference in therapy is that someone is guiding you and directing you through analyzing your story.
The Paradox Process is much more immediate than therapy.  It deals with what is happening presently in your life. The Paradox Process is a tremendously therapeutic tool but its not to be used to reinforce anyone’s story.  The stories that we make up and find ourselves in are the kiss of death, emotionally.  The story of being “abused or hard done by as a child” is no longer a story you are supposed to tell as an adult.  You have to let that story go, and the Paradox Process is an easy way to do so.   People invest in their stories, polish their stories, and then their stories have an aura and a power of their own.  Then it becomes the sacred cow that you can’t do anything about, that you are not allowed to change.

The Paradox Process deals with an upset, handling that upset in the moment and creating a result in the moment.  If you did nothing else but stay present and clear for each upset, this process would get you clear and unmake all those stories.  This Paradox Process is about being in the moment.

The name of the game is transformation, if you knew you could instantly transform and that you knew you had a tool where you could transform at will, at your pace, on the issues you choose; you would see this process as incredibly valuable.

The Paradox Process allows you to decide the direction you want your life to go.  At 3 o’clock in the morning, when you are in the middle of an upset, do you think your therapist is going to answer the phone?  With the Paradox Process it can be 3am and you can process whatever it is you need to process in whatever way you need to.  This process is a set of tools that you own, and get to use.  The tools of the Paradox Process are accessible at will and directable according to your choice and need.   It is easily mastered with tools to lead you through an upset from the unknown beginning, to the insight and clarity at the end of an issue. That’s a powerful difference.

3. Does this really work? How does this work?

The Paradox Process works amazingly and instantly!  It works not because you want it to or wish it would.  It works when you work it.  One of the fascinating things we discovered about the mind is that this doesn’t clear what you want; it clears what you tell it to clear.  Your results depend on your participation in this process. You have to approach your issues with intelligence.  You have to be articulate in your issues; you need a pair of eyes and the willingness to look at what is going on inside of you.  Be a detective:

a.  identify your issue
b.  articulate the issue
c.  be present as this process works and notice the difference between where you were emotionally and where you are

After working with a key or a technique you literally have to try to recreate that upset; this shows us that the issue is gone and flushes out the insight underlying the issue.  Most people are terrified to attempt to recreate their upset, afraid that they are going to ignite it again.  If you have used the Paradox Process and you really are clear you can’t recreate that upset.  You will force the insight to the conscious mind; this insight has become available to you.  It has been obscured by the emotional haze of an issue.
The mind will never willingly tell you what it has learned.  You have to ask it.  You have to be conscious in the use of the Paradox Process; you have to be intelligent, clear, articulate, and observant in the face of an issue.  When you take this stand you become very powerful.  This becomes an incredibly powerful process, because it allows you take back your personal power from all of the issues that you’ve given it away to.

If you work, it works.  If you do the work, The Paradox Process will deliver.

4. Why is this method called The Paradox Process?

The mind works paradoxically: if you tell the mind that it cannot solve a problem, the mind immediately shows you pictures and images of how to solve it.  The Paradox Process has been called “the positive power of negative thinking”.   We use the very negative thinking that the mind engages in as a means of clearing itself.  In a way the mind effortlessly provides everything we need to work on in order to clear itself.

5. Why do we identify with our feelings so much?

A dentist told me once that tooth pain is worse than foot pain.  Do you know why?  Because tooth pain is closer to the head.  The closer pain is to the head the more you identify with it. If a feeling or emotion is inside you, you will identify with it. How do we view it?  These are “MY” feelings.  This is how “I” feel.  In this culture we have been given a kind of license that allows us to say, “This is how I feel”.  In our culture there is something sacred about that feeling.  We glorify it.

We identify with our feelings because they are inside of us and we don’t make any distinction between feeling and reality.

6. Why is some of the language negative?

The Paradox Process is specifically languaged because the mind is a problem solver.  The moment you say to the mind “you can’t cross that bridge” the mind says, “Yes I can and here is six ways to do it.”

So, this process is specifically languaged to pose the problem in the most accessible way for the mind to react to the issue and to solve it.  If you want to efficiently use the power of the mind using the Paradox Process, you have to put in some “paradoxical” inputs.  The Paradox Process is deliberately designed in a way to force the mind into a position:  the mind will solve the problem.

7. How long does it take to learn this?

The Paradox Process takes about 5 minutes to learn and you can spend a lifetime mastering it.  We are constantly learning, growing and transforming as human beings.

8. How can I use this in my life?

Anytime you find yourself in an upset or have negative feelings, the Paradox Process gives you an alternative to being stuck in those feelings.  It also gives you a way to create anything you want. When we eliminate the negatives in our lives, the positives automatically manifest.

9. What is clarity?

Clarity from the root of the word means clear. Clear means the absence of negative feelings and emotions.  The second definition of clarity is “light”, meaning bringing light to or enlightened.  Clarity is our natural state.  The Paradox Process is a means of returning to our true selves, our naturally powerful and positive selves.

10. If you have this process why aren’t you perfect and perfectly clear?

We are in a lifetime where our lessons will and do show up.  The reality is you are going to live through whatever your fate or destiny is; we are not in control of our circumstances.  We are in control of the experience of our circumstances.  Our happiness is based on our experience; not on our circumstances.   The Paradox Process has the ability to manage and control your experience. This means that you, through the Paradox Process, have your hands on the wheels and dials of your happiness.

11. If I don’t clear I will be making different choices in my life, which will put me on a different path.  Now that I am conscious about my ability to clear I make different  choices whether to clear or not.  Aren’t I in charge of my destiny or path?

Two answers:

1. We have no control over our circumstances in life.

2. We have tremendous influence over the outcome of every situation we are in.

That’s the paradox.  What I have discovered through clearing is that the more detached one gets, the more influence one has on their reality.  So, if I want “XYZ” in my life, I will clear, using the Paradox Process.  I will become detached and when I do this clearing, I clear all of the obstacles to creating those very things in my life.

If I am destined to receive certain gifts in life, I will get those gifts.  Nothing can change our destiny, but how we experience those gifts is in our hands through the Paradox Process.

12. What are you doing in Tibet?

We are going to break our daily patterns and daily routines; the immediate results of breaking all of our patterns and finding ourselves in a different environment which puts us in a different position.  Without all of this distraction, we are much more accessible to ourselves.  All of our issues will show up.

Being on a stated journey to find our clarity and our truth, to enhance our spirituality where we have divested ourselves of all the distractions, being with a group of like minded people will exponentially increase our ability to work on ourselves.

Tibet will be more than an individual experience; it’s a group experience.   When everybody is on the same page and meditating at the same time it enriches the experience. We intend to create a new level of clarity for ourselves; a new base of clarity within our minds, a new state of joy.  What made me want to bring people to Tibet was the experience of clarity that I found there and hadn’t experienced before. After more than thirty years of personal work, I thought that I had achieved a great deal of clarity and a great level of peace.  My journey to Tibet showed me a new level of peace and understanding that I wanted to share with like-minded people.
